Pilot Light Old Wall Heater

The gas wall heater will not turn on.

I have changed the thermastat 3 times. I changed the thermastat and the heater worked for a week or two. Press inward on the valve. Each time the heater works for a week or three.

The reason that i think it is the thermastat is because i take it off and touch the wires together and each time the heater comes on. If your old gas furnace has a standing pilot you can follow a standard procedure to relight the pilot light. Then press the button again to light up the pilot.
