Punto Door Handle Sticking

The only thing left connecting the cover to the door should be the 2 rods connecting the interior handle to the locking mechanism and the exterior handle.

The most common cause of sticking door handles is some kind of malfunction within the tubular latch itself. The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch. A sticking door latch might require some lubrication or it might be jamming against the strike plate on the door jamb. Give the lock two or three squirts to lubricate.

Open the door and squirt graphite powder into the key lock. To remove these you need to unhook the pink in this vehicle plastic holsters and then lift the rod out of its respective hole. To test this firstly open the door and check that there are no obvious obstructions on the tubular latch plate such as loose screws or signs of internal parts of the latch or lock poking through. The speaker grill has to come off followed by the speaker3 pozi screws then the door pull 3 torx screws then the 5screws along the bottom of the door card and up the side.

The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob. The handle or knob must be jiggled to unstick the latch. Rear passenger door gets stuck. The hold open washer sometimes binds causing the door to remain partially open.

Squirt the bolt with graphite powder. Once the door is open try to actuate the door latch with the handle. Fiat punto 07. Turn the knob to open the door and release the knob slowly.

Just replaced a passenger external door handle on an 04 2 door punto. Rear passenger door gets stuck and won t open from the outside. You then have to carefully remove the foam liner. Turn the handle of the doorknob to expose the bolt.

More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch. The door card can then be lifted out.
